Experiences with Imposter Syndrome, Burn-Out, and Exhaustion
At 8:30, Susan shares her experiences working at a corporate job and the mental and physical health issues that followed. This high-pressure environment eventually led her to a health crisis that forced her body and mind to take a break. Although her breakthrough didn’t come instantaneously, her mindset finally shifted as she found a deeper connection to what her life’s purpose and joy are.
How to Show Up for Yourself by Honoring Your Emotions
Susan explains the difference between honoring your emotions and being run by them. While she relied on shutting them down to function at an intense and unhealthy capacity for a long time, she now encourages you to acknowledge those feelings. Once you’ve acknowledged your feelings, you should also move your physiology to match what you want to feel. Give yourself the physical and mental space to show up for yourself! Tune in for more at 16:00.
Recommitting to Your Values and Finding the Deeper Why
To realize why you are or are not committing to a task, hobby, or anything for that matter, you need to acknowledge your feelings, move your physiology, but also analyze and recommit to your values. At 24:00, Susan tells us how she went from putting off tasks and neglecting her to-do lists to realizing the deeper “why” behind her motivations. As she shares some vulnerable moments, she teaches us how to use our understanding of our values and feelings to navigate our lives.
Our Energy Patterns Tell a Story about Our Motivations and Decisions
Why do we cancel plans or stop working out? Is it because we’re exhausted? How can you understand the motivations behind your decisions? Investigating the deeper “why” is a great technique, but Susan reveals another with us here at 36:30. Learning about your energy patterns can help you see which choices are beneficial to you at a low, neutral, or high-energy state. Susan familiarizes us with Human Design which helps us become aware of these energy patterns and motivations.
